  1. -animals that fly - representing the highest type of foods that people in high society eat - is thought that they also represent high society in this way - because they fly, they are 'high' in society, or ascending.
    -shows peasants preparing but not eating such high-classed food. thus makes the clear distinction between intellectual and manual labour.
    -child shown puffing cheeks like birds full of air, making him take the guise of a bird/noble.
    -peasants were the ones that handled all the food because it was considered unclean.
